Adrienne Deganutti

Machine Learning PhD Researcher, University of Surrey

Adrienne Deganutti is a PhD researcher at the University of Surrey, where she specialises in AI-driven innovations for film and television.

Adrienne received her Bachelor of Engineering in Film Production and Broadcast Engineering from the University of Surrey. As an undergraduate, she completed a 13-month placement with The Walt Disney Company as a member of their London Media Systems Engineering team. A subsequent Machine Learning research internship inspired Adrienne to apply AI to broadcasting – a pursuit that led directly to her ultimate PhD focus.

Sponsored by BBC R&D, Adrienne’s research explores automated approaches to audio description generation, with the goal of making film and television more fully accessible to the visually impaired.
