Simon Bishop’s lifelong passion for sound began nearly 50 years ago when he discovered a reel-to-reel tape recorder hidden under the family piano. That early curiosity sparked a career that has spanned every corner of the industry. He began his professional journey in the sound department of a film company, working on corporate and training films, before going freelance. Since then, Simon has amassed a wealth of experience across documentaries, commercials, countless music videos, television dramas, and major feature films. In recent years, his work has included designing and installing sound systems for large-scale reality shows and operating multitrack recorders for live concert shoots. He served for nine years as Chairman of the Institute of Professional Sound, championing best practices and innovation within the field.

Simon’s extensive credits include New Tricks (nine series), Silent Witness, Doc Martin, The X Factor, Britain’s Got Talent, The Crown, and House of the Dragon (series 1 & 2) – the latter earning him a BAFTA nomination this year.
